About Masai Mara National Reserve

The Masai Mara is Kenya's crown jewel — a vast expanse of rolling savannah that forms part of the greater Serengeti-Mara ecosystem. Every year between July and October, millions of wildebeest and zebras pour across the Mara River in the Great Migration, one of nature's most spectacular events. The Mara is one of the most reliable places on Earth to see all of the Big Five, and boasts the highest density of big cats in Africa. Leopards drape themselves in the branches of sausage trees, cheetahs hunt across the open plains, and lion prides are so well studied that guides know them by name. Beyond the wildlife, hot air balloon safaris at dawn offer a cinematic perspective over the endless grasslands, and visits to authentic Maasai Manyattas (villages) provide a window into one of Africa's most iconic warrior cultures.
