Volcanoes National Park

Volcanoes National Park in northwestern Rwanda is where Dian Fossey made her legendary stand to protect the Mountain Gorillas — and today, her legacy lives on in one of conservation's greatest success stories. The park encompasses the Rwandan portion of the Virunga volcanic massif, a chain of eight volcanoes draped in bamboo forest and hagenia woodland.
